Notes |
- King of England, 959-975. During his reign there was a lull in Viking activity. Promulgated laws, while recognizing Danish customs in the areas they lived. About 973, instituted reform of coinage. Worked closely with the Church. Much is made of his being rowed on the Dee by eight Kings of the realm (including Welsh and Scots) symbolizing their loyalty to him.
