      Rev. H. M. Schuerman
On Saturday, July 5, at his home in Forest Park, Topeka, Rev. H.M. Schuerman passed from this life to be with God. Forty seven years ago he answered the call of God to the Gospel ministry. For about twney years he served in the Wisconsin Conference of the Evangelical Church. In 1905 he entered the ranks of the Kansas Conference and served continuously until the time of his retirement in the spring of 1929. His last charge was Halstead. For the last year of his life he served as care-taker in Forest Park, Topeka, the Kansas Conference Assembly grounds. Father Schuerman was a man of splendid Christian character, deep piety and great earnestness in the Master's service. He was a successful minister of the Gospel, being used of God to the salvation of many souls and the upbuilding of the churches which he served. The influence of his life will linger as a blessing to many. He is survived by his companion, two sons and one daughter. The one son is W. J. Schuerman, Methodist pastor in Chicago and the other is Rev. E. L. Schuerman, Evangelical pastor at Jewell, Kansas. The daughter, Clara, was for a considerable period missionary in China, and is now at home with her mother in Topeka. The funeral was conducted in the First Evangelical Church in Topeka, with the pastor Rev. C. O. Bickel, officiating and preaching the sermon. Rev. G.W. Landis and Rev. C.F. Erffmeyer assisted. Twenty-five ministers of the conference were in attendance, six of whom served as body bearers. Burial was made at Topeka.
