- History of Whalley: Esq., of the Tower. History of Clayton, p. 57: of Peasfurlong.
Hampson: succeeded on the death of his father in 1446 and held the estates during the Wars of the Roses and the reign of Edward IV. Killed at Bosworth Field in 1485, fighting on the Lancastrian side. At his death held the manor of Radclyffe of the King as Duke of Lancaster, also Oswaldtwistle and part of Culcheth.
